WEEK 4 FANTASY START/SIT

Writer's picture: The Couch GMsThe Couch GMs

Let’s get your fantasy football lineups ready and set for week 4 with some Start/Sit suggestions at each position. This list will exclude the every-week lineup starters, like Patrick Mahomes, CMC, Mark Andrews, etc. Let’s get into it.

"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: QB

Joe Burrow vs Miami Dolphins

It’s Thursday Night football….the Bengals are at home….coming off their first win….and facing the last ranked team against fantasy QBs in the Miami Dolphins. If Burrow can stay upright he is in for a big week.

Marcus Mariota vs Cleveland Browns

Mariota might be one of the surprises of this fantasy season so far. He currently is ranked as QB13 and has a positive matchup up against the Cleveland Browns, who are currently ranked 23rd against fantasy QBs. This could be the week Mariota cracks the Top 12 fantasy quarterback.

Tom Brady vs Kansas City Chiefs

Tom Brady has not looked great to start the season. The Buccaneers have gone 3 straight weeks without scoring a Touchdown in the first half. So, I would understand any hesitation. I just think Brady is due for a game and what better place than to do it on prime time? It also helps the chiefs are 24th against the fantasy QBs

"SITS" OF THE WEEK: QB

Russell Wilson vs Las Vegas Raiders

Russell could be due for a big game as the Broncos haven’t moved the ball that well. Especially the last 2 weeks. This offense seems off. So even in a really good matchup, I would look elsewhere.

Derrick Carr vs Denver Broncos

In the same matchup. Derrick Carr is also a player I would avoid if I can. Denver is #6 against Fantasy QBs with one of the top secondaries In the league.

Jimmy Grappapolo vs Las Angeles Rams

Jimmy G is back starting for the 49ers. There was some hope his experience would give a boost to the passing attached. That did not happen in week 3, and it is not likely to happen in week 4 against a tough division opponent.

"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: RB

Jamaal Williams vs Seattle Seahawks

One of the most sought-after waiver wire additions this week with DeAndre Swift out for a while. Williams was already a borderline spot starter with his red-zone opportunity. Now I a getting a full workload vs 23rd ranked Seahawks. Williams goes from waiver to start this week.

Damon Pierce vs Los Angeles Chargers

Pierce has done nothing but get more carries and more yards each week of the season. This week Pierce and the Texans take on the Los Angeles Chargers who can’t shake the injury bug. Just placed Joey Bosa on IR and are currently ranked 27th against fantasy RB. Pierce is a good play this week.

Breece Hall vs New York Jets

The Jets will have a new QB. So their offense can look completely different. However, Hall is coming off Back to Back 12+ point games and gets to face the surprising #24 team abasing fantasy Running-backs in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Look for the Rookie

"SITS" OF THE WEEK: RB

Jeff Wilson vs Los Angeles Rams

Wilson is still in line to be the top running back for the 49ers. Just this week is not the week to play. The Rams are #2 against fantasy running-back so take him out of your lineups.

Raheem Mostert vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are a mid-tier running defense. You could expect points and be looking for an option with all the RB injuries this past week. You might have also noticed the uptick in Mostert's usage in the last 2 weeks. But with Chase Edmonds still, there you would be taking a big risk with Mostert, and basically hoping for a big play.

Rashaad Penny/Kenneth Walker vs Detroit Lions

This is not because it’s a bad matchup. It’s not. The lions are actually the worst team against fantasy running backs. Seattle has just not been efficient on offense and the RBs have shown. Penny has scored less than 8 every week so far and Walker less than 5 since his return. Don’t try to chase points in this matchup.

"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: WR

Amari Cooper vs Atlanta Falcons

We now have 2 weeks of Cooper with 100+ yards and touchdowns. This week is another positive matchup for Cooper as the falcons rank 29th, so he can stay in your lineup.

Chris Olave vs Minnesota Vikings

Olave is a budding star and his competition Micheal Thomas and Jarvis Landry are dealing with injuries. It is still unclear which will play, but that might not matter as Olave saw 13 targets in week 3. He is on his way to an every-week starter. Also reminder this game is at 9:30 so don’t play him in your flex spot and remember to set your lineup.

Gabe Davis vs Baltimore Ravens

If he plays, Davis is in your lineup. The bills had a tough game in week 3. It wasn’t the high-powered offense we have become accustomed to. The Ravens are better than their 32nd ranking, but that doesn’t change the outlook on Gabriel Davis.

"SITS" OF THE WEEK: WR

Christian Kirk vs Philadelphia Eagles

This one hurts, and not just because the Jags are playing the Eagles. Kirk has been so good for fantasy through 3 weeks. Living up to his contract. The Eagles and their secondary is just playing at a different level right now; which gives me some hesitance put Kirk in my lineup.

Mack Hollins vs Denver Broncos

Another hot waiver pickup. Just this is not the week to play him. Similar to why we're benching Derrick Carr the Broncos are the best team against fantasy WRs, and Hollins shouldn’t be the top target again this week.

Chase Claypool vs New York Jets

With the Steeler's offense struggling right now and playing a Top 10 team against fantasy WRs. Playing their #2 wide receiver doesn’t make sense this week.

"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: TE

Dallas Goedert vs Jacksonville Jaguars

If you look at the rankings this is not a positive matchup for Goedert. Jacksonville is ranked #2 against Tight ends. Goedert is coming off back-to-back 10+ points weeks, you have to ride the #5 ranked tight end three this week.

Zach Ertz vs Carolina Panthers

The Cardinals' offense has not been a highlight of the season. At least Hertz has been consistent with 6+ catches in the last 2 games. He has been Kyler's #1 target, and probably the safest position player on the Cardinals' offense. A big advantage for the Tight end position.

"SITS" OF THE WEEK: TE

Tyler Higbee vs San Franciso 49ers:

Higbee is currently ranked as TE10. He has shown some consistency in his role on the Rams' offense. Just this week he faces the #1 defense against fantasy TE. It's not the best week to stream him.

Dawson Knox vs Baltimore Ravens

We have seen the touchdown regression from Knox as he has yet to find the end zone. He also hasn’t been filling up the stats he hasn’t had a game yet with 45+ yards. Now he is dealing with a foot injury. He might play on Sunday, but it shouldn’t be in your lineup.

"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: DST

Cowboys DST vs Washington Commanders

After what we saw last week, you have to start the Cowboys on the number of sack opportunities Micah Parsons and the rest of the cowboys will have.

Giants DST vs Chicago Bears

Has there been a worst offense than the Bears through 3 weeks? Justin Fields hasn’t had a game with more than 8 completions. Also has less than 300 passing yards on the season. So the Giants should be a solid streaming option.

"SITS" OF THE WEEK: DST

Jaguars DST vs Philadelphia Eagles

If you look at the rankings, Jacksonville is DST3 so it could be tempting. However, the Eagles' offense is just playing too well right now, to strat a defense against them.

Ravens DST vs Buffalo Bills

This game has too many expected points to start the Ravens' defense. The over/under is currently set at 51. Look elsewhere for your streaming options this week.
