Way Too Early Top 60 Fantasy WRs

Writer's picture: The Couch GMsThe Couch GMs

This week on The Couch GM's Podcast, the boys broke down their top 25 fantasy WRs for 2021. But we all know, WRs don't end there, so here are the boys top 60 consensus rankings for pass catchers!

Some of the biggest questions at the WR position comes down to the WR Trios and Quads. The teams that have a plethora of WRs make it hard to see who the top guys are going to be some weeks. Teams like Dallas, Cincinnati, and Tampa Bay are teams with top WRs but one or 2 of the guys disagree on who may be the starter or faded the whole group because of the idea that there just isn't enough volume to go around.

Late round fliers are also an important asset when it comes to WRs, trying to find those guys who can lock down a bye week fill or can break out and be the next top 20 fantasy WR. Tyler's guy is the guy all the way down at 60 in our rankings and thats Elijah Moore. Moore joins a new look Jets team that is a big question mark, but the talented rookie WR could break out and be a starter in fantasy before the end of the season. George highlighted the Bills, Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis. Beasley was a top 25 WR last season and appears to be a safety net for Josh Allen and yet he is still falling down boards. He could be a reliable bye week or injury fill for a team that is full of boom or bust WRs or is thin at the position. Gabriel Davis is the breakout potential guy. He got some snaps in the absence of John Brown last year, but with Brown gone, Davis is the starter now across from Stefon Diggs and will get every opportunity to be a breakout candidate. Cody highlighted Breshad Perriman who is the starting WR currently on the depth chart for the Detroit Lions. The chance to grab a starter that late in drafts is valuable, but George seems to think that Tyrell Williams will be the leader in Detroit while Tyler leans toward Quintez Cephus.

Finally a WR question. Russell Gage was highly targeted in the last 4 games (fantasy relevant so week 12 to 15) of 2020. Julio is almost certainly on his way out but Atlanta is still going to have massive passing volume. What do you expect Gages target percentage to be if he's WR2?

I could definitely see Gage being fantasy relevant if Julio is gone but there is still the addition of Pitts in that offense. So I could see him maintain the 5-10 targets a game without Julio, but I wouldn’t call him more than a matchup based flex starter until you see a few weeks out of him during the season. If you see news of Julio on the move, I would add him to your late round flier WR’s. We will update our rankings as we move closer to the season as well and you will probably see him on our boards as well.

I am here to argue against Tyler and his assertion that Ben Rothliesberger has shown major regression. 3800 yds, 33 TD's, only 10 picks with a 94.1 QB rating. Ben's 2020 performance matches up with the vast majority of his career. I need to see your work on his regression. Fun show guys. Keep it up.

I am here in support of Tyler. There is precedents for a Bruce Arians team to support 2 or 3 high performing WR's as seen in his time as head coach of Arizona with Fitzgerald, Floyd, and Brown. Certainly Tom Brady is more efficient than Carson Palmer and Evans and Godwin outshine Floyd and Brown. I like the call.
