I hope everyone had a successful week 7 despite all of the injury news and bye weeks. I am going to start this weeks column with a list of players to check your wire and see if they are available. These players are more than 50% owned, but are solid players or got a huge boost thanks to news in week 7.
CHECK IF AVAILABLE:
SF QB Jimmy Garoppolo (53.2% Owned)
NYJ RB Michael Carter (71.3% Owned)
MIA RB Raheem Mostert (78.7% Owned)
CAR WR DJ Moore (68.0% Owned)
NYG QB Daniel Jones (23.0% Owned)
Yep… we have come to the point where Daniel Jones is worth a pick up. Now that the joke is taken care of, Jones has actually been a solid floor play as of late and has a solid matchup this week against Seattle’s mediocre defense.
BAL RB Gus Edwards (10.3% Owned)
Before the games this weekend, the Ravens announced that JK Dobbins got another knee scope and will miss 4-6 weeks. This move corresponded with the return of the Gus Bus and the Ravens dropped him right into action. Gus got 16 carries and 2 scores in his return and should remain the Ravens starter at least until JK Dobbins returns.
CAR RBs Chuba Hubbard (17.4% Owned) & D’Onta Foreman (31.8% Owned)
The shocker during TNF was the trade of Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers. The big question was how much CMC would be used in his debut in San Fran, but the other question was who would start in Carolina. The waiver rush was for D’Onta Foreman but the announced starter on Sunday was Chuba Hubbard. Hubbard was on pace to receive about 60% of the snaps before leaving in the 4th quarter with an ankle injury that is not considered serious. Both of them were effective in their
KC RB Isiah Pacheco (41.4% Owned)
I hope you were listening into The Couch GMs Podcast a few weeks ago when we advised everyone to sell Clyde Edwards-Helaire. CEH was replaced as starter this week by Isiah Pacheco. The game didn’t go as planned, but Pacheco did lead the backfield in touches and just was unfortunate to face a top defense. CEH performed better in fantasy points thanks to the TD, but I still expect Pacheco to hold the starting job and get better luck after the bye.
PIT WR George Pickens (48.4% Owned)
Pickens has continued to become more engrained in the Steelers offense since the QB change to Kenny Pickett. After his week 7 performance, Pickens has more than 11 half-PPR points in 3 of the last 4 weeks and is still over 50% available. He needs to be added and could even be a bye week fill flex as we continue this season.
SEA WR Marquise Goodwin (0.2% Owned)
Another week 7 surprise unfortunately came at the cost of DK Metcalf. Metcalf left the Seahawks game in the first quarter with an injury that is expected to leave him out for a bit. In his absence, the speedy veteran Goodwin got 5 targets and hauled in 4 catches and a TD. I expect that usage to keep up while Metcalf is on the shelf.
NYG WR Wan’Dale Robinson (3.5% Owned)
Robinson was someone that I highlighted on last weeks column, and now again this week he remains one of the best upside WRs left on the wire. He was more involved in this weeks contest than last as he gathered 6 catches on 8 targets. There is speculation on whether his lack of production in the 2nd half was due to a minor injury or if he is still being eased in due to his previous injury, but I expect he will continue to get more and more involved in the Giants offense as the season progresses.
NO TE Taysom Hill (47.6% Owned)
Hill’s actually trending down in ownership after last week's 9 point game. I think the reason for that is his owners longing for his 30+ point games. No TEs can consistently do that. The red zone usage for Hill along with how he will throw, run, and catch the ball in any given game is making him an every week dart throw TE.
