Week 4 is almost in the books and that means it’s time for our weekly look into the depths of the waiver wire! Who is out there to boost your squad this week?
CAR QB Sam Darnold (18.9% Owned)
Darnold entered week 4 being one of the most consistent QBs in fantasy and proceeded to top that with a 31 point week last week. I get it, Darnold isn’t the flashiest name, but it seems like this new team and coaching staff is all that Darnold needed to break out and become an asset to fantasy teams everywhere.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $10
CHI RB Damien Williams (1.3% Owned)
Owners of David Montgomery experienced a range of emotions this week as he went off for 22 half-PPR fantasy points and then injured his knee. While the signs look optimistic for him long term, he is expected to miss some time. Enter Damien Williams, a former starting RB for the Chiefs and an explosive one at that. Williams can slot right into your lineups until Montgomery returns to the lineup.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $10
BAL RB Latavius Murray (19.9% Owned)
The Ravens shockingly made lead RB Ty’Son Williams inactive for their week 4 matchup with the Broncos and a bulk of the carries went to Latavius Murray. Murray saw 18 carries and while he wasn’t the most effective, he definitely seemed like the coaching staffs favorite option in that backfield. I expect Murray to keep this job for at least the short term, and a lead back on this explosive of a run offense needs to be owned.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $20
NE WR Jakobi Meyers (41% Owned)
Meyers is continuing to emerge as the lead passing option for Mac Jones and the Patriots offense. He is WR 41 so far this year and he hasn’t even scored a TD yet this season. That along with his 14 and 12 target performances in weeks 3 and 4 tell me that he could get even better from here.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $10
ARI WR AJ Green (11.2% Owned)
The search for the #2 WR in Arizona continues! Green has actually been a model of consistency so far putting up 10+ fantasy points in half-PPR scoring each of the last 3 weeks and seeing 6 targets every week so far this season. The biggest asset for Green is his redzone usage, where he is seeing targets almost every week, greatly increasing his chances of scoring a TD any given week.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $5
CHI WR Darnell Mooney (38.8% Owned)
I spotlighted Mooney in my week 3 waiver wire column and talked about how with Fields coming in, I expected Mooney to get a boost. Well, that didn’t happen in week 3 because the Bears gained about -20 yards of offense, but it happened in week 4. Mooney looked like he was Fields favorite target this week, even more than Allen Robinson, so I like his outlook moving forward.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $15
BUF TE Dawson Knox (46.4% Owned)
I laughed on last week’s preview episode as Cody was playing TE darts and landed on Knox this week. With so many options in the Bills offense, I didn’t think Knox would be a great play most weeks. Now, 4 weeks in, Knox is TE 6, has 3 weeks of 8+ point half-PPR performances, and looks like he could be one of the safer TE’s in the league behind the top 3.
FAAB Bid Suggestion: $5
