What an interesting, frustrating, and surprising week 3 we had. While there were some shocking week 3 performances that deserve some looks on the waiver wire, the stars of this column this week are… the handcuff running backs.

CHI RB Khalil Herbert (4.2% Owned)

DET RB Jamaal Williams (31.9% Owned)

MIN RB Alexander Mattison (38.8% Owned)

CIN RB Samaje Perine (0.4% Owned)

All 4 of these backs are handcuffs to starters who are banged up. I have them above in the order of their perceived long term value. Khalil Herbert dominated in the absence of David Montgomery and has a chance to eat into some carries despite Montgomery’s status. Jamaal Williams also performed well spelling DeAndre Swift, but he also has taken a lot of redzone touches before this injury. Alexander Mattison is the best backup RB in the league for fantasy, so if Dalvin Cook misses any time with his shoulder injury, he is a must start. Finally, Samaje Perine cracks the list thanks to Joe Mixon’s injury and his strong second half in relief that shows he has some value if Mixon misses time.

GB WR Romeo Doubs (4.4% Owned)

The WR depth chart in Green Bay is still sort of up for question, but we always want a piece of Aaron Rodgers top target. There are plenty of involved players like Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and even TE Robert Tonyan, but the leader in targets this week was Romeo Doubs. The rookie may have benefitted from the absence of Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins, but Watkins, at least, will miss significant time on IR and that gives a good window for Doubs to continue to grow.

ARI WR Greg Dortch (6.4% Owned)

I just keep thinking that this is a trap, and now for the 3rd straight week, Dortch continues to perform and deserves some attention. Dortch has seen 23 targets through 3 weeks and scored no less than 9.8 half-PPR points so far this season. It remains to be seen what his usage will be like once Deandre Hopkins returns from suspension, but he is still suspended for 3 more weeks.

CLE TE David Njoku (16.6% Owned)

Njoku finally broke out in week 3, having a career game with 9 catches for 89 yards and a TD on 10 targets. Njoku got a huge contact in the off-season and was very unimpressive the first 2 weeks, but it seems like every week he is getting more and more involved in the passing game. This weeks matchup against Atlanta should place Njoku solidly on the Tight End dart board as a potential streamer.

Philadelphia Eagles D/ST (44.1% Owned)

9 sacks later… the Eagles dismissed the Washington Commanders and now turn to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars definitely look better than the past few seasons on offense, but this Eagles defense has been so dominant the last 2 weeks that this is still a great streaming option.
