Did your squad struggle in week 2? Need a fill in for an injury or poor production? Well, I’ve got you covered! Let’s take a look at this week’s top adds off of the waiver wire!
CHI QB Justin Fields (Owned 46.2%)
Andy Dalton went down in the Bears week 2 game and we all know what that means… Justin Fields time! While he looked unimpressive in relief on Sunday, with a full week of preparation, I expect him to look better in week 3. It is also worth noting that Fields has the ability to be an effective rusher, a trait that many top 10 fantasy QB’s have. Disclaimer: The Bears keep saying that Dalton is their starter when healthy, but he is probably going to miss some time and Fields will have a chance to play and change their minds.
LAR RB Sony Michel (Owned 25.5%)
We all were skeptical of Darryl Henderson when the Rams traded for Michel, but Henderson has been the workhorse. Then why add Michel? Because of course Henderson is dealing with injuries… again. Michel looked solid in relief in week 2. If Henderson misses time, Michel could be a RB2/Flex play.
DAL RB Tony Pollard (Owned 52.8%)
Someone who was once just a handcuff is now carving out his own role in the Dallas backfield and could have fantasy value even with Zeke playing. Pollard put up over 100 rushing yards and a TD in week 2, a feat that Zeke hasn’t accomplished in 630 days…
WAS RB JD McKissic (Owned 25.1%)
We may have yet another backfield emerging with 2 fantasy viable RBs. McKissic had a slow start in week 1 but showed the value that made him a matchup based flex starter down the stretch last season. Especially in PPR leagues, McKissic falls into that category again this season.
Jets RB Michael Carter (Owned 54.4%)
The Tevin Coleman reign as Jets RB1 was short lived. In week 2 it was almost an even split between Carter and Ty Johnson, but Carter was the more effective back. Carter was drafted in a lot of leagues but he was dropped in a lot after week 1, so if he is on the wire, he is worth an add.
ATL RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson (Owned 0.7%)
Patterson is a return offender in this column and that’s because yet again his usage was impressive, and his playmaking ability even more so. Not only is he seeing receptions in the passing game, but he is also getting work in the running game, a valuable mix when it comes to fantasy points. If you haven’t added Patterson yet, he should be added.
ARI WR Rondale Moore (Owned 2.1%)
Last week, I mentioned Moore in this post under Christian Kirk. I expected Kirk to hold that WR2 role for a few weeks at least, but the Cardinals didn’t agree. Moore exploded in week 2 for 20.9 half-PPR fantasy points. Even crazier, it could have been even better! Moore fumbled at the 1 yard line in the first half. This guy is a big play waiting to happen, snatch him up before he beats your team later.
CHI WR Darnell Mooney (Owned 47.8%)
While Mooney hasn’t been the flashiest player through 2 weeks of the NFL season, he is demanding targets in that Bears offense. Add that with the upgrade at QB that Justin Fields brings, and I think he is worth a speculative add in your leagues if he is available.
