Welcome to week 3 where a lot of upside is available on the waiver wire. Want help sifting through to find some of the diamonds in the rough? Look no further!
MIA RB Raheem Mostert (32.4% Owned)
Surprise in Miami as Mostert was actually the lead back in touches this week over Chase Edmonds! It wasn’t the most eventful day, but 11 carries and 3 targets for a guy with the big play ability that Mostert has is no doubt worth an add. The usage could have been thanks to Miami being behind for most of the game, but even yet, this is a speculative add with high upside.
ARI RBs Darrel Williams (0.3% Owned) & Eno Benjamin (0.3% Owned)
Lead back in Arizona James Connor left Sundays game with an ankle injury so enter… both Williams and Benjamin. Want to know which is better to add if Connor misses time? This one is a true toss up… Let’s look at stat lines for week 2.
Darrel Williams:
8 carries for 59 yards, 1 TD (7.4 YPC), 2 catches for 3 yards (3 targets)
Eno Benjamin:
8 carries for 31 yards (3.9 YPC), 3 catches for 20 yards (4 targets)
Fairly even… it is worth noting that Benjamin was getting work before the injury and Williams was on the field after, but maybe that speaks to the fact that they view Eno as more of a passing down back and Williams as more of the traditional back in the absence. Williams did get the goal line TD to back up that theory. So, back to the question, who is the better add? By usage without Connor in this game, I am leaning towards Darrel Williams, but Eno Benjamin is still worth an add, especially in PPR formats.
NYJ WR Garrett Wilson (25.5% Owned)
This game from Wilson was a bit unexpected, but on top of even that, the rookie had a very eventful day on Sunday. There was a time that he left this contest with a back injury but came back to get 102 yards receiving on 14 targets and scored 2 TDs. Garrett Wilson has emerged as a favorite target for Joe Flacco as he has grown into the offense, so I see him as a potential flex play next week against a Bengals team that is starting slow, but it remains to be see if he will keep up this production long term with the return of Zach Wilson, which could occur as soon as week 4.
NE WR Jakobi Meyers (19.9% Owned)
I have a feeling a lot of people are going to ask why Meyers and not Nelson Agholor? No, it is not because I am an Eagles fan, it is because of volume. Agholor had a monster day putting up 20 points in half-PPR scoring, but Meyers received over double the targets that Agholor did (13 compared to Agholor’s 6). Meyers may not be a sexy pickup, but volume monsters are always someone we are looking for in fantasy.
NYG WR Sterling Shepard (16.3% Owned)
Another not sexy looking add, especially on that Giants offense, but the veteran definitely appears to have won the WR1 job in NY. 10 targets in week 2 was a great amount of volume and puts him into the matchup based flex category if that volume keeps up.
Philadelphia Eagles D/ST (13% Owned)
If you are looking for a good streaming defense for the next 2 weeks, the Eagles are it, no matter how they do against a tough Minnesota offense on Monday Night. The Eagles are looking ahead to the Washington Commanders in week 3 and the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 4, 2 positive matchups that I believe you should start the Eagles D/ST for.
