There haven’t been a lot of great WR options on the wire in recent weeks, but this weeks wire has a few options with some great 2nd half upside. Let’s take a look at them and more!
PHI RB Jordan Howard (Owned 2.2%)
Just 1 week after the Eagles ran the ball all over the Lions, they again ran well against the Chargers. The difference, there was a clear lead back and that man was Jordan Howard. Howard out-touched Boston Scott 17-10 on his way to his 2nd 10+ point game. He will only be relevant until the return of Miles Sanders, but with the Eagles recent emphasis on the run game, the teams lead back needs to be owned.
FAAB Suggestion: $5
TEN RB Adrian Peterson (Owned 41.8%)
Peterson made his NFL debut on SNF and led the Titans in rushes as well as scoring a TD. Peterson was not the most effective back in a tough matchup agains the Rams, but the usage and fact that he got goal line work bodes well for Peterson in the coming weeks.
FAAB Suggestion: $15
SF WR Brandon Aiyuk (Owned 41.0%)
Well, he finally did it! Aiyuk had his breakout! I advised to add him early coming off the bye last week and his ownership actually went down. I like Aiyuk going forward if he keeps getting the 8 targets he saw this week, but of course we are not sure if he keeps that up.
FAAB Suggestion: $20
NYJ WR Elijah Moore (Owned 11.8%)
Elijah Moore has been quietly coming on in recent weeks and now had his breakout game on TNF scoring 2 TDs. There is a revolving door at QB right now for the Jets and that gives Moore some uncertainty, but the rookie has some great upside coming into the 2nd half of the season.
FAAB Suggestion: $15
BAL WR Rashad Bateman (Owned 9.6%)
Bateman has been another WR I have been advising to add over recent weeks and he now saw 8 targets in week 9. He has yet to score a TD in his NFL career but the Ravens and Lamar Jackson appear to be starting to trust him, targeting him in many key 3rd down situations. I like Bateman’s outlook down the stretch.
FAAB Suggestion: $15
CLE WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (Owned 2.2%)
The Odell Beckham Jr era in Cleveland has come to an end and that means a starting role for one Donovan Peoples-Jones. He will still most likely be the WR2 behind Jarvis Landry, but Peoples-Jones flashed his big play potential in week 9. He is a boom or bust play, but I like adding him as a flier going forward on a team that is looking for a #2 passing option.
FAAB Suggestion: $10
ATL WR Russel Gage (Owned 16.5%)
It’s not too often you can grab a WR1 off the wire this late, but Gage played like one in week 9 after a week of game planning without Calvin Ridley. Gage is definitely a risky play, but the 8 targets is a promising sign, especially in PPR and half-PPR formats.
FAAB Suggestion: $15
WAS TE Logan Thomas (Owned 59.4%)
Thomas isn’t as widely available but he was dropped in a lot of leagues after his injury. The Football Team will be opening his practice window this week and his return is imminent. We all know his upside as a starting TE, so be sure to check your leagues wires to see if he is available.
FAAB Suggestion: $25
