Let’s get your fantasy football lineups ready to go for week 3 with some Start/Sit suggestions at each position. This list will exclude the every-week lineup starters, like Patrick Mahomes, CMC, Mark Andrews, etc. Let’s get into it.
"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: QB
Joe Burrow vs New York (Jets):
I know the Bengals are struggling. Joe Burrow has taken a beating, yet he is still producing as a Top 12 fantasy QB. The Bengals need a win so look for Joe Burrow to take advantage of the Jets' mediocre defense (Ranked 19th against QBs in fantasy) on Sunday.
Derrick Carr vs Tennessee:
Look for the Raiders and Derrick to bounce back after their heartbreaking loss as they face-off against a Titans team who will be on a short week and just gave up 41 points.
"SITS" OF THE WEEK: QB
Aaron Rodgers vs Tampa Bay:
Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest throwers of the football in NFL history, but for whatever reason, he has not fared well when playing in Tampa Bay. This will be his 5th game in Tampa throughout his career. He is 1-3 with 909 yards (227.5ypg), 3 Touchdowns, and 8 Interceptions. With his past record and the Bucs currently being the #1 Fantasy DST, don’t play Aaron Rodgers.
Carson Wentz vs Philadelphia:
Who would have thought Carson Wentz would be Top 3 in passing yards and Top 5 in fantasy 2 weeks into the season? With the surprising start and the revenge game for Carson, you could be tempted to play him. Due to the Eagles ballin' out right now, Wentz is not the best streaming option this week. You could do worse, but I also think you could do better.
Tua Tagovailoa vs Buffalo:
Tua is coming off a week where he finished as a Top 3 QB in fantasy after throwing 6 Touchdowns. He won AFC player of the week; however, this Bills team is dominant. Josh Allen and the Bills' offense is getting all the publicity, but the Defense has been just as dominant if not more, allowing 17 points to combine all season while facing the 2021 Super Bowl champs & #1 seed in the AFC from last year. That makes this a bad matchup for Tua.

"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: RB
Leonard Fournette vs Green Bay:
The Packers have allowed the 2nd most rushing yards per game through 2 weeks. The Buccaneers have uncertainty at wide receiver with the Mike Evans suspension in addition to Julio & Goodwin missing week 2 with injuries, leaving their Week 3 status up in the air. Fournette should be in line for a huge day on the ground and catching passes out of the backfield.
Miles Sanders vs Washington:
Through 2 weeks Miles Sanders has proven to be the Eagles' RB1. 30 carries, 176 yards, and a Touchdown. Washington is currently ranked 29th vs fantasy running back making starting Miles Sanders a no-brainer.
Mark Ingram vs Carolina*:
Notice the Asterisk. Ingram is only a start IF Kamara is still not good to go this week with his rib injury. If Kamara doesn’t go, Ingram will be the lead back. Last week even against a good run defense he average 6 yards a carry. The game script only allowed him to have 10 carries, but against the Panthers, he should receive more carries and a better chance to score a TD.
"SITS" OF THE WEEK: RB
Chase Edmonds/Raheem Mostert vs Buffalo:
Similar to why I said bench Tua. Bills' defense has just been so dominant to start the season, and neither Edmonds nor Mostert has pulled away with the starting job. It’s a good week to look elsewhere for a running back.
Josh Jacobs vs Tennessee:
Josh Jacobs has yet to hit double-digit fantasy points this season. This could mean he is due for a touchdown to bolster his score, but still have a hard time suggesting starting Jacobs in the matchup. He also has been nonexistent in the passing game this season (2 catches).
Kareem Hunt vs Pittsburgh:
Kareem Hunt is typically a viable RB option despite technically being 2nd on the depth chart. On a short week vs division rival Pittsburgh Steelers, this would be a week to pivot away from Kareem Hunt.
"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: WR
Devonta Smith vs Washington:
You can’t have much worse of a fantasy game than Devonta Smith did in week 1. He bounced back nicely with double-digit points on 7 catches for 80 yards. By showing he can a part of the passing attack makes him a solid flex candidate in a positive matchup like this one.
Brandin Cooks vs Chicago:
Brandon Cooks is just solid. Often an afterthought or overlooked, but he just produces. This week should be no different when Brandin Cooks and the Houston Texans take on the Chicago Bears.
Drake London vs Seattle:
Drake London has been the #1 option in Atlanta for 2 weeks. In fact, 37% of the time he runs a route the ball goes to him. That is the highest in the league through 2 weeks. Don’t shy away from London even against the Seahawks who have been top 10 vs fantasy Wide Receivers.
"SITS" OF THE WEEK: WR
Amari Cooper vs Pittsburgh:
Amari was a no-show in week 1. Saw 10 targets in week 2. Hard to tell what to make of it. The Steelers have allowed some yards to WRs, so he is not a must-sit, but relying on Jacoby Brisset to move the ball consistently against the Steelers is a scary proposition.
Adam Thielen vs Detroit:
Has age finally caught up to Adam Thielen or are the Vikings forcing it to Justin Jefferson so much that he is becoming fantasy irrelevant? We need a larger sample size to know for sure, but if possible wait and see with him on your bench instead of in your lineup.
Allen Lazard vs Tampa Bay:
Allen Lazard returned to the field in week 2. He scored a TD to salvage his fantasy day, but he only saw 3 targets. The Packers had 9 guys get a target, but no one had more than 4. This team isn’t going to have a true number one for a while, so in a bad matchup avoid playing Lazard.
"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: TE
Hayden Hurst vs New York (Jets):
Hayden Hurst is dealing with an injury that has limited him in practice, so you’ll have to monitor his status. If he does play you should expect him to be on the field a lot, and be a safety net for Burrow. Touchdowns have alluded him so far, but I think that changes this week.
Dawson Knox vs Miami:
Dawson Knox is another one dealing with an injury you will have to monitor. However, Dolphins are currently ranked 31 or 32 against Tight ends, so if Knox plays he is in your lineup.
Gerald Everett vs Jacksonville:
The uncertainty around Kennan Allen this week makes Gerald Everett another strong TE streaming option. As he has established himself as a contributor on the Chargers high-powered offense.
"SITS" OF THE WEEK: TE
Robert Tonyan vs Tampa Bay:
Just like Lazard, too many people are getting targeted, plus the Bucs have 2 of the fastest linebackers in the league. Not great for a Tight end who attacks the middle of the field.
Dalton Schultz vs New York Giants:
Schultz is dealing with a knee injury and his status is uncertain for Monday night. Take him out of your lineup because you don’t want to be stuck with his backup or the Giants' tight end you’d have to Google to know who he is.
"STARTS" OF THE WEEK: DST
Eagles DST vs Washington:
The eagles' secondary has looked scary. Justin Fields has been pretty bad to the point where it even looks like the Bears don’t want him to throw it a lot. Eagles get up early and force some turnovers as they continue to stay hot.
Cincinnati DST vs New York (Jets):
Are the Bengals the biggest surprise of the season so far? Could be, but their defense has played pretty well all things considered, and a lot better than their O-line. Look for the Jets to start slow after their big win and Bengals to turn it around in week 3.
Los Angeles Chargers DST vs Jacksonville:
Jacksonville has been better than expected, but the Chargers are on a different level than their past opponents. Could be a rough day for Trevor Lawerence and the company.
"SITS" OF THE WEEK: DST
Indianapolis DST vs Kansas City:
The Colts have been bad. The Chiefs have been good. Enough said.
New England DST vs Baltimore:
New England is a mess right now. The defense isn’t playing great. They get the Baltimore Ravens who always play them tough and coming off quite frankly an embarrassing loss. Also, Lamar Jackson is playing too well right now to start a defense against him.
Minnesota DST vs Lions:
Did you know the Lions are tied with the Chiefs for the 2nd most points per game through 2 weeks? You just saw what the Eagles did against the Vikings' defense. Stream someone else.
