As you know, the NFL Draft wrapped up on Saturday and the Couch GM’s competed to see who was the most accurate in their first round mock draft.
Here is how the scoring for the competition works.
2 points:
A player is picked at the correct spot and to the same team as picked in the mock
George (who received a bonus question because he had one less pick) gets the bonus question correct
1 point:
A player goes at the same draft spot as mocked but to a different team
A player goes to the same team as mocked but at a different draft position
Now, for the results!
Cody had a bit of a rough night, but he did not get shut out! He did start the night with a correct pick of QB Zach Wilson to the New York Jets a pick 2, but the only other point he received on the night was predicting the Minnesota Vikings to take OT Christian Darrisaw, but the pick number was incorrect after they traded back. Those picks left Cody with 3 total points.
Tyler faired a little better than Cody, but still, mock drafting is a very inexact science. Tyler got the slam dunk pick of Trevor Lawrence first overall correct, and followed it up with a correct pick of Rayshawn Slater to the Los Angeles Chargers at pick 13. Those correct picks left Tyler with a total of 4 points.
George didn’t look to be faring any better as well until later in the first round. He led off the night by correctly picking QB Trey Lance to the San Francisco 49ers at pick 3, and then went quiet. Late in the first round, he broke through again though, correctly guessing WR Rashod Bateman to the Baltimore Ravens at pick 27, and also cashing in on the bonus question he had when 3 first round trades occurred during the draft on Thursday. This meant George finished with a total of 6 points and was the winner of the mock draft competition!
George was also the winner of our Predict The Pick mock draft group, thanks to his correct picks of Bateman and LB Odafe Oweh to the Ravens late in the first round, barely edging out honorary Couch GM bodotdot. It is also worth noting that Cody was preforming very well in the mock as well, but starting building his board too late and only got 19 picks in… this is why you don’t procrastinate kids. Also a shoutout to Ycckk for a strong showing in the mock draft, and to all of the Couch GM’s out there who participated in our Predict the Pick group for the 2021 NFL Draft!
